Come Some Ablah Food and Music!
Most of the Taiwanese/Hong Kong owned restaurants and eateries here play MTVs of chinese or canto pop songs on plasma TVs. And allow me to say that's one of the best entertainment you can have during a meal without choking on your food (unless the MTV is beyond horrid and/or features too-good-not-to-puke-can't-sing-for-nuts idols) and also 1 of the most targeted forms of advertising you can get for pop music.
Food and music go perfectly together. Food and MTV had me glued to the TV screen while I tried to find my mouth with the chopsticks. If all those foodcourts in Singapore showed MTVs instead of news or boring chn 8 dramas, I would probably have spent more time eating. Then again, the foodcourt dudes probably don't want people to stay in there watching MTVs on their tab. That's probably why they show TV programs that no one wants to watch. Blah.
