ATC = Atrocious Teachers' Camp
I had the shock of my life.
I never imagined teachers to be who I witnessed them to be at the camp... many of us grew up thinking that teachers follow a certain image... that of self discipline, good counsel and kindness... well i've seen enough at officers' atc to conclude that teachers r mere mortals like the rest of us... below r the descriptions of some of the employees of the ministry of edu. whom i encountered at the camp... believe me... they're not fictitious...
The Loud Mouth Uncle Who Couldn't Stop Telling His Commando Stories and Insulting the Corps' Working Principles
The title says it all... I dun understand why some teachers can't take working as a teacher officer or the camp in good faith... fine, one may have been arrowed by their school for this 'shit job'... but as a teacher, one should be matured enuff to noe how to make the best out of it instead of taking it out on instructors who already tried their best to accomodate and give in... I have almost zilch respect for this attention-seeking uncle who couldn't stop cracking his lame jokes and telling his commando stories while insulting the many working principles of the corps e.g. our campfire practices and way of discipline... We all noe that uncle really didn't want to be at the camp and was juz short of saying that he totally hated the corps... but is that the role model we want our cadets and students in general to follow? I fear for our future
The Pampered Sportswoman
Being a very proficient sportswoman doesn't necessarily make 1 a garang person... What made me say that? ok i shall start with field cooking... 1 particular teacher, let's call her D, is a very proficient sportswoman... Canoeing, sailing, wad have u... However, D kept whining about the amount of msg in maggi mee and assorted canned foods... well, for 1, i'm sure she definitely doesn't noe the meaning of combat ration despite being an english teacher... wad food supply can one take with them while trekking thru the jungle? a parang to hunt wild boars and chop down some coconut? i wished too... and then there's the story of the flooded tent... u c, i shared a 6 men tent with D and another teacher officer... 3 ppl in a 6 men tent!!!!! that's already like wow... unfortunately, it rained cats and dogs throughout the entire camp and the tent was flooded... well not the whole tent but about hmm... 2/5 of it... the 2 teacher officers were so disgusted by it, they decided to move out of the tent and sleep in the open, bunk in with others wadever... however, the tent was really still in sleepable condition... i dun blame the other teacher officer for packing up to dryer land coz her side was really heavily flooded but D slept in the middle for goodness sake... the little water which touched her was at her feet... even my side encountered more serious flooding... so i had the whole tent to myself and jioed xy and lf over for supper (yes, combat ration) and chatted till bout 1+ before we all knocked out... yes, 3 of us in that flooded tent... i couldn't help but note that D was quite pai seh when i told her 3 of us actually managed to sleep in that flooded tent...
The Chao Geng Teachers
Last day liaoz! Going home! Ok~! Area Cleaning! 1 teacher down with migraine... oh no... TWO teachers accompanied her in the sick bay... Enough said
After talking about the teacher officers, I would like to express my disgust towards one of the honorary officers... As an honorary officer, he actually joined some of the teachers in 'ill-treating' the instructors and expressing his discontentment towards the main working principles of the corp... seriously, i dunno wad he's doing in np... well... the world sure is an interesting place to live in...
